ABOUT US
HISTORY
The department of Civil Engineering was instituted in 1973 in MIDWEST TECHNICAL INSTITUTE before it was made a federal Institution in 1981, as University of Benin, Benin City, then BENDEL STATE.
NAME AND MOTTO
The name ACES and abbreviation for the Association of Civil Engineering Students, University of Benin chapter was instituted in 1991, after the constitution was made, enacted and adopted. In 1998, the abbreviation ACES was changed to ACSES meaning Association of Civil /Structural Engineering Students, was instituted in 1997/98 session.
This is so as to unite both departments under the same umbrella.
The association adopted the motto "in construction lies the future". Prior to the year ACES in 1991 and has ever since been the motto up to date.
MEMBERSHIP
All matriculated students of the University of Benin currently in the department of civil/Structural Engineering are deemed members of the association.
Graduated members shall be life-members of ACSES-UNIBEN

OBJECTIVES
- To foster unity and understanding amongst the Civil / Structural engineering students in the University of Benin community.
- To protect rights and interest of all members.
- To aid members wishing to undertake projects of concern to the department and faculty of engineering at large.
